Job summary

Memorial Hermann Health System in the United States is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician responsible for preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and supplies for the operating room and other hospital areas.

You may lead as shift lead when needed, follow standard precautions, and contribute to quality, safety, and efficient patient care. Education and experience requirements include a high school diploma, CBSPD/IAHCSMM certification, and at least two years in instrument sterilization.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CBSPD or IAHCSMM certification required; CIS/CSIS preferred.
• Minimum of two years' experience in sterilization of instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Ability to lift and maneuver supplies with assistance.
• Good computer literacy and ability to think critically to solve problems.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• May function as lead technician/charge person on the shift as needed.
• Prepare, assemble and sterilize instruments and equipment.
• Maintain records and organize supplies per hospital standards.
• Identify equipment in need of repair and ensure maintenance.
• Follow all safety and infection control policies.
