Job summary

The Stationary Engineer Level II at Union College in Schenectady, NY, supports the central plant’s operations, maintenance, and repair of steam and chilled water systems. The role covers startup, shutdown, and emergency procedures, with a focus on boiler, chiller, HRSG, and associated equipment.

Qualifications include an Associate degree in a relevant field and 3–5 years of boiler/operator experience; strong communication and computer skills are required. Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in plant utilities, electrical, or mechanical engineering preferred.
• 3–5 years' boiler operator or stationary engineer experience preferred.
• Experience with high pressure steam systems and chiller distribution.

Responsibilities

• Assist with startup/shutdown and emergency procedures for plant systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on boilers, chillers, HRSG, and pumps.
• Monitor instrumentation and alarms; document with the Works system.
• Ensure safe operation and comply with Lock-out-Tag-out procedures.
