Job summary

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited law school and active Texas license.
Minimum 2 years 6 months of legal practice experience.
Requires active Texas license to practice law.

Responsibilities

Evaluate criminal complaints to decide prosecution eligibility and charging options.
Review case files, conduct legal research, interview witnesses, gather evidence.
Draft, file, and respond to motions, briefs, and legal documents.
Explain legal processes to witnesses and prep for testimony.
Prepare and present evidence, exhibits, and material for hearings and trials.
Represent the State in trial, hearings, and jury selections.
Negotiate settlements or plea agreements and obtain necessary approvals.
Prepare settlement or plea documents and ensure signatures and filings.
Manage court docket and schedules to meet deadlines.
Train junior attorneys as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
