Job summary

Requires Texas law license and several years of proven trial experience.

Qualifications

  • Requires JD from an accredited law school and Texas bar licensure.
  • Minimum 2 years 6 months of licensed legal practice.
  • Experience as lead prosecutor for felonies or extensive appellate work.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate complaints to decide prosecution viability and charges.
  • Review cases, perform legal research, interview witnesses, gather evidence.
  • Draft, file, and respond to motions and briefs for trial or hearings.
  • Explain legal processes to witnesses and keep victims informed.
  • Present evidence and conduct examinations and closing arguments.
  • Negotiate settlements or plea bargains with approval when needed.
  • Prepare and file settlement or plea documents with signatures.
  • Manage court docket and case schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Assist in training other Attorneys I-III.
  • On occasion perform duties of Section Chief as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
