Job summary

Aurora is seeking a Senior Staff Tech Lead Manager for the Core Cloud Services team in Mountain View, CA. You will lead 8–10 engineers to own real-time and offline cloud backend services for fleet optimization, task assignment, and remote support.

You will balance hands-on coding with leadership, drive high availability, and guide the team through AI tooling evolution while collaborating with product, UX, and partner teams.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in CS or related field with 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years of direct engineering management leading teams of 5+ engineers.
• Cloud backend development, distributed systems, scalable web services, and modern API design; high availability and scale.
• Hands-on 'player-coach' balancing team management with technical contribution, conducting code reviews and writing production code.
• Modern tooling and agentic AI leadership; guide and upskill teams on developer tooling and AI workflows.
• Enterprise delivery with external, customer-facing software and API integrations; managing enterprise rollouts.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, and operate real-time and offline cloud backend services for fleet optimization, task assignment, and remote support.
• Maintain active technical engagement through code reviews and production code contributions.
• Ensure core cloud services are architected for maximum uptime, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
• Guide the team in adopting agentic AI tooling and modern development workflows.
• Collaborate with Product Management, UI/UX Design, Hardware/Autonomy, and logistics partners.
• Maintain high engineering standards and drive end-to-end execution while balancing speed and stability.
