Job summary

ServiceNow is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the Security Data Platform with expert Python skills and a hands-on, full‑stack security focus. You will design APIs, build services, and partner with detection, identity, and asset teams to ship production-grade platform components.

You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and own cross-team deliverables while contributing to security data pipelines and data contracts.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent
• Expert-level Python for data processing, API development and testing in production
• Deep hands-on Splunk experience: SPL, data onboarding, performance tuning
• Software architecture ownership for distributed/data-intensive systems
• Cybersecurity background: security operations, threat detection, incident response
• Data science experience: statistics, feature engineering, anomaly detection
• Applied AI/ML experience: LLM-based systems, retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge graphs
• Experience defining data contracts or governance models for internal platform consumers

Responsibilities

• Design and build the platform's core APIs, including context retrieval and risk scoring
• Build and run asynchronous data pipelines on a message bus with a governed schema registry
• Integrate security data sources like SIEM, identity governance, and asset inventory
• Own platform workstreams from scoping through delivery and cross-team coordination
• Write design proposals and review others' work as part of RFC process
• Review code and mentor engineers on partner teams; maintain usable technical docs
