Job summary

ServiceNow is seeking a senior security platform engineer to design and build core APIs and data pipelines for the Security Organization (SSO) platform in Santa Clara, CA. You will own API contracts, work with detection engineering, red/blue teams, and identity/asset management to deliver scalable security solutions.

You will write code, review designs, mentor engineers, and contribute to architecture decisions shaping our API-first security platform across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Experience integrating AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving.
• 12+ years of professional software engineering with production systems.
• Expert-level Python for data processing, API development, and testing.
• Deep hands-on Splunk experience with data onboarding and performance tuning.
• Software architecture ownership on distributed or data-intensive systems.
• Real cybersecurity background: security operations, detection engineering, or security data engineering.
• Project ownership at a senior IC level, cross-team coordination.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the platform's core APIs, including context retrieval, risk scoring, and data contracts.
• Build and run asynchronous data pipelines on a message bus with a governed schema registry.
• Integrate security data sources such as SIEM, identity governance, and asset inventory.
• Own platform workstreams from scoping through delivery with cross-team coordination.
• Write design proposals and review others as part of RFC process.
• Review code, mentor engineers on partner teams, and maintain technical documentation.
