Job summary

Commerce seeks an experienced Staff Software Engineer to influence architectural direction for our AI-driven commerce platform. You will guide large-scale distributed systems across domains, mentor engineers, and drive the integration of GenAI into current and future products.

You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering leaders globally to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions and stay at the forefront of cloud technologies and observability practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of professional software engineering experience delivering production systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, plus 10+ years of experience with demonstrated leadership in technical direction and architecture.
• Expertise in back-end development with two or more server-side languages (e.g., PHP, Go, Scala, Java, Python, Ruby).
• Proven experience architecting, building, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable, reliable, high-performance distributed systems.
• Drive architectural discussions across multiple domains and contribute to long-term technical roadmap execution.
• Ensure architectural decisions align with performance, scalability, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Drive initiatives to integrate AI technologies, including ML models and GenAI into products, and evaluate new AI infra and practices.
• Collaborate with teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions and mentor engineers across levels.
