Job summary

Commerce is seeking an AI Lead Software Engineer to architect and ship agentic AI systems powering our open commerce ecosystem. You will lead design and implementation of AI-based product solutions, collaborating with Product and Engineering to drive rapid experimentation and scalable deployments.

In this role, you will mentor teams, shape AI strategy, evaluate tooling, and ensure secure, cost-effective systems at very large scale.

Qualifications

• Significant experience architecting and shipping Agentic AI systems in production.
• Strong server-side engineering in Python, Go or Java.
• Experience building product solutions with LLMs and GenAI technologies.
• Experience working with product data pipelines and familiarity with e-commerce taxonomies, schemas.
• Familiarity with modern AI infrastructure (vector databases, model orchestration, inference frameworks, cloud-native ML workflows).

Responsibilities

• Interface with team members across domains to provide context, direction, and technical guidance.
• Contribute to high level designs and ensure strategic alignment with leaders.
• Serve as lead engineer for major initiatives across teams with low level designs.
• Deliver quick-turnaround, scalable, reliable solutions for urgent business needs.
• Help shape the AI strategy with Product & Engineering leadership.
• Assess technology options to optimize ROI for the business.
• Build scalable, secure, cost-effective systems at very large scale.
• Uphold expertise in RAG pipelines, MCP, AI agents, multimodal LLMs, and related tooling.
• Uphold organization through evangelizing technologies and educating teams.
