Job summary

Commerce is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to steer the design and evolution of our large-scale distributed systems, including GenAI integration. You will mentor engineers, drive architectural decisions, and collaborate with product teams across global offices to deliver reliable, scalable commerce solutions.

We value deep expertise in backend development, distributed systems, and cloud platforms, with a track record of technical leadership.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
10+ years of professional software engineering experience with leadership in architecture.
Expertise in backend development using two+ server-side languages (e.g., PHP, Go, Scala, Java, Python, Ruby).
Experience building large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native microservices.
Familiarity with AWS/GCP and observability tooling like Sentry, Kibana, Datadog.

Responsibilities

Lead design, development, and evolution of scalable distributed systems.
Drive architectural discussions across multiple domains and ensure scalability and security.
Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across global teams.
Partner with product managers and designers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
Guide adoption of AI technologies including GenAI where value is clear.
