Commerce, a leader in AI-driven commerce platforms, seeks an AI Lead Engineer to define and lead the architectural direction of our AI services. You will shape patterns, guide major initiatives from design through delivery, and ensure production-grade reliability, performance, and cost-awareness.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Go (GoLang) and Python for production-grade services.
• 3+ years building AI/ML systems in production.
• Experience with modern LLM ecosystems (OpenAI, Anthropic, HF).
• LLM-based solution patterns: RAG, structured outputs, schema-driven generation.
• Familiarity with MCP servers and orchestration approaches.
• Experience evaluating LLM performance in production contexts.
• Experience designing scalable API services at scale.
• Strong cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with vector databases and inference systems.
• Strong SQL skills and modern data storage knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the architectural direction for AI services and initiatives.
• Lead high-level and low-level design for major AI programs.
• Establish architectural patterns and technical guidelines for engineers.
• Build and evolve scalable, API-driven AI services in Go.
• Develop LLM-based solutions including classification, extraction, structured generation, and RAG workflows.
• Drive rapid experimentation and prototyping (often in Python) with production paths.
• Define and enforce standards for evaluation, cost-awareness, and reliability.
• Mentor Senior AI Engineers through design reviews and guidance.
• Collaborate with Staff Engineers for broader architectural alignment.
