Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) seeks a Staff Services Officer V to support State Hospitals with advanced staff services, position management, and HR processes. The role works under the Administrative Services Manager and collaborates across divisions to improve workforce operations.

The position requires strong leadership, policy development, and budget oversight, with telework eligibility and frequent coordination with facility leadership and central office.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in human resources, business management, or a related field.
• At least two years’ experience in office management, business administration, or human resource administration.
• Experience and education may be substituted for each other on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Conducts a comprehensive review of requests for approval and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with agency requirements.
• Manages the Central Administration mailbox and coordinates stakeholder inquiries.
• Provides high-level consultation to senior management on staff services functions, HR processes, and workforce operations.
• Assists with planning, information sharing and implementation of agency programs related to workforce operations and staff services.
• Prepares and maintains official meeting minutes and supports policy/procedure development.
