Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer (Uber Tech Lead) for Identity & Access Management within Platform. You will own the technical strategy that unifies human, AI agent, service, and workload identity into one coherent platform across 700+ internal systems.

Lead architectural decisions, drive adoption, and mentor senior engineers in a distributed, high-impact environment. You will partner with Security, Compliance, IT, and product leadership to translate audit requirements into

Qualifications

12+ years of software engineering experience and senior platform leadership across multiple teams.
IAM expertise across workforce identity, authorization, lifecycle or non-human identity.
Production Go experience and distributed systems design on AWS; fluency in identity protocols (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, SCIM).
Influence without authority and alignment on cross-org access-risk problems.
Translate audit/regulatory requirements into automated controls; articulate them for executives.

Responsibilities

Own multi-year IAM strategy and architecture across platforms and teams.
Set standards and contracts for architecture decisions across pods and teams.
Lead adoption across 700+ systems; define migration paths and build-vs-buy decisions.
Collaborate with Security, Compliance, IT, Infrastructure and product leadership on controls and evidence.
Grow the technical bench by mentoring staff and elevating identity as a domain.
