Job summary

GRAIL in Menlo Park, CA, is seeking a Staff-level full-stack engineer to work on patient-facing software for the Galleri® test. The role spans backend and frontend across distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native infrastructure.

The team uses Go, AWS, Kubernetes, and React, with a hybrid on-site care model that prioritizes a 60% on-site schedule. The position is based in the Bay Area with a move to Sunnyvale planned for Fall 2026, offering competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics, or similar field or equivalent experience.
• 8–12+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining full-stack apps and microservices.
• Strong knowledge of Go, Java, Python, JavaScript, C++; frontend React/Angular; backend Spring/Spring Boot; REST, gRPC.
• Cloud & DevOps: AWS/GCP/Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform; Microservices; Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis.
• Experience with distributed systems on cloud platforms; testing protocols; passion for high-quality software.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend applications and distributed systems for cloud-based software used by Grail's key offerings.
• Lead multiple large cross-functional programs with high complexity and risks.
• Drive improvements in software engineering practices based on business needs and trends.
• Provide technical leadership with standards, tools, and knowledge requirements.
• Mentor team members and foster innovation and excellence.
