Job summary

Salesforce is seeking a backend-focused engineer to join the Salesforce AI Labs team in the United States. You will build production-ready AI-powered agent systems with the scale of Salesforce and the autonomy of a startup, learning from demonstrations and integrating AI reasoning with deterministic execution.

You’ll own substantial systems from design through deployment, work directly with customers to validate results, and help shape the technical direction of new offerings.

Qualifications

• Experience owning a substantial backend service through design, deployment, and production improvements.
• Hands-on experience building and evaluating LLM-powered systems.
• Ability to reason about concurrency, persistent state, retries and partial failures in critical systems.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.

Responsibilities

• Build systems that learn from demonstrations and combine AI reasoning with deterministic execution to complete workflows reliably.
• Develop recovery and verification capabilities so agents can adapt to changes and require human intervention when needed.
• Build backend services with robust workflow state management, failure handling, and secure access to customer environments.
• Create evaluations and diagnostics that measure task success, expose regressions, and explain failures.
• Work directly with customers to prototype solutions, validate results, and shape the roadmap with product management.
