Job summary

UKG is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to build and maintain our public/private cloud PaaS layer. This role partners with Agile teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment across cloud infrastructure. The successful candidate will manage a stack of tools and services, mentor engineers, and drive best practices.

You will work with Linux-based platforms, container tech, and cloud-native solutions, contributing to scalable, highly available services and on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• 10+ years building or configuring cloud infrastructure and services (on-prem or public, GCP preferred) via code.
• 10+ years in at least one programming language (Java, Go, Ruby, Python).
• 10+ years managing Linux based platforms.
• 10+ years with Cloud Native solutions (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• 10+ years DevOps tooling (Terraform, Ansible, GitHub, Vault, CI/CD).
• Experience with container tech (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong scripting in two of Perl, Bash, Python, PowerShell.
• Experience with networking, Windows/Linux, and web tech (microservices, REST).
• Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering principles.

Responsibilities

• Manage, improve, and maintain tools and services across the org, delivering incremental value.
• Build mature apps and services to enable Product Development via a self-service portal.
• Collaborate with Development teams to understand gaps and requirements.
• Join team meetings daily and collaborate with peers.
• Troubleshoot issues with detailed implementation plans, automation, and testing.
• Lead and guide engineers with implementations.
• Understand cross-functional impact and high-level topology across services.
• Ensure development aligns with UKG guidelines and best practices.
• Mentor teams on tooling usage and guidelines.
• Write technical specifications and documentation.
• Participate in rotational on-call schedule.
