Job summary

UKG is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer in Lowell, MA to architect and maintain our public/private cloud PaaS layer. You will integrate Linux, Go, Concourse, Kubernetes, and cloud services to support product development across teams.

You’ll mentor engineers, drive automation, participate in on-call rotations, and ensure scalable, secure infrastructure aligned with best practices in SRE and microservices architecture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, software engineering, or related field; equivalent work experience may substitute.
• 10+ years of experience building/configuring cloud infrastructure and services (on-prem or public, GCP preferred).
• 10+ years of experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Go, Ruby, Python).
• 10+ years of Linux platform management.
• 10+ years with Cloud Native solutions (GCP/AWS/Azure).
• 10+ years with DevOps practices and tools like Terraform, Ansible, GitHub, Vault, CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Manage, improve, and maintain tools and services stack across the organization.
• Build mature applications and services to enable Product Development teams via self-service portal.
• Collaborate with Development/Engineering to understand gaps and requirements.
• Lead and mentor engineers, drive automation, and ensure reliable deployments.
• Contribute to on-call rotation and incident response with detailed runbooks.
