Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems - Research & Advanced Design (R&AD) seeks a Consulting Chief Engineer to lead the Advanced Aircraft OU in Redondo Beach or El Segundo, CA. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams from concept to demonstrations, addressing air vehicle technologies and mission systems concepts.

The role requires a strong track record in systems engineering, deep technical leadership, and the ability to coordinate with customers and senior leadership.

Qualifications

• BS in STEM with 16 years' experience; MS with 14 years; or PhD with 12 years.
• Experience in air vehicle conceptual design, development and demonstration.
• Experience collaborating across Business Units and with partners.
• Active US Government Secret clearance or higher (with BI in last 6 years or CE).
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for the OU, providing direction to activities.
• Define and control technical requirements; ensure coordination across projects.
• Interface with the customer and company leadership at the highest level.
• Ensure programs adhere to engineering principles and standards.
• Chair the Technical Review Board (TRB).
• Assist in risk and opportunity management by identifying technical risks.
• Provide mentoring in systems engineering to technical contributors.
