Job summary

ServiceNow, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to build AI-native industry applications at production scale, collaborating directly with customers when needed. You will own end-to-end delivery from design to operation, focusing on reliability, guardrails, and scalable architectures.

You’ll partner with product managers and designers to translate regulatory requirements into robust software, mentoring others and shaping long-term platform direction across multiple teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in integrating AI into work processes or decision-making
• 10+ years of professional software engineering in SaaS
• Hands-on delivery of production AI-native features
• Experience authoring agentic instructions and prompts
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and design patterns
• Experience delivering conversational experiences in chat/voice

Responsibilities

• Design, build and deliver scalable, AI-native enterprise applications for industry-specific workflows and compliance
• Create agentic behavior: intent interpretation, multi-step reasoning, tool invocation, human handoffs
• Design AI-driven autonomous workflows with clear decision points and recovery paths
• Author and maintain agentic instructions and guardrails as versioned artifacts
• Engineer prompts for reliability, with measurable evaluation and CI gates
• Build automated evaluation and testing for non-deterministic behavior
• Ensure configurable platform capabilities without sacrificing performance
• Direct AI coding agents with explicit scope and acceptance criteria
• Forward deployed engineering with customer data, integrations and channels
• Lead technically across teams, promoting best practices and architecture direction
• Translate complex business/regulatory requirements into scalable tech solutions
• Collaborate with product managers, designers and stakeholders
