Job summary

ServiceNow is seeking a Senior Manager of Engineering to lead teams building AI-native, assistive products for IT operations. You will direct large distributed systems, data ingestion, and context creation, with a focus on agentic AI and cost optimization.

The role requires strong leadership, architectural judgment, and hands-on credibility to ship iterative product improvements. You will guide cross-functional collaboration, ensure security/compliance, and drive value realization for customers

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience including 3+ years leading teams.
• Strong experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep understanding of system design for scale, reliability, observability, fault tolerance, data quality, security, and production readiness.
• Strong technical depth in Java or Golang.
• Ability to define technical direction and drive cross-team architecture decisions.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers and raising engineering standards.
• Experience integrating AI into workflows and products.

Responsibilities

• Own technical strategy and delivery for your teams.
• Set architectural direction, ensure quality and reliability, validate hypotheses with evidence.
• Hire, coach, and develop engineers, tech leads, and managers to form inclusive high-performing teams.
• Identify and address value realization gaps in products.
• Diagnose root causes (architecture, UX, data quality, feedback loops, cost) and implement targeted improvements.
• Establish architecture patterns and engineering standards for the domain.
• Document tradeoffs and guidance to help teams move faster.
• Collaborate with ITOM engineering teams to share learnings and accelerate pattern adoption.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Security, Operations, Sales, and Customer Success on roadmap and release readiness.
