Job description

Our client is looking to bring on multiple Accountants across both the Senior & Staff levels. Experience with month-end, reconciliations, and handling varied accounts is key in these roles, as candidates will hit the ground running and be given the independence to do their job as they see fit.

Job Function:

This position plays an important role in maintaining the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of financial information throughout the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial records, assisting with internal and external reporting requirements, and providing accounting support that contributes to the overall performance of the company’s portfolio of businesses.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will vary depending on the individual’s level of experience and whether they are hired as a Staff Accountant or Senior Accountant. Core responsibilities will include the following:

Accounting Responsibilities – All Levels
  • General Accounting & Financial Reporting: Provide accurate and timely accounting support for multiple related entities and assist with the preparation and compilation of financial statements.
  • Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage day-to-day accounting transactions, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), vendor payments, and maintaining appropriate supporting documentation.
  • General Ledger & Account Reconciliations: Complete both routine and more complex reconciliations for P&L and Balance Sheet accounts, including bank accounts, debt-related accounts, revenue, expenses, and other financial activity.
  • Fixed Assets: Perform fixed asset accounting responsibilities across assigned entities, including reviewing Construction in Progress (CIP) and maintaining records related to Personal Property assessments.
  • Month-End Close & Audit Support: Complete assigned month-end and close activities and prepare documentation needed for annual financial statement reviews, audits, and other reporting requirements.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Develop and provide financial, accounting, and administrative reports and analyses as requested by management.
  • Accounting Systems: Ensure financial information remains accurate and consistent across multiple ERP systems and operating modules to support reliable reporting across all entities.
Senior Accountant – Additional Responsibilities
  • Complex Accounting & Issue Resolution: Utilize strong analytical and technical accounting skills to identify, research, and resolve complex accounting discrepancies and operational challenges across affiliated companies.
  • Acquisitions & Complex Entities: Take responsibility for maintaining the accounting integrity of complex entity integrations, acquisitions, and high-volume accounts throughout the portfolio.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Support the creation, documentation, evaluation, and ongoing improvement of internal accounting controls designed to protect company assets and maintain reliable financial information.
  • Accounting Team Support: Serve as a resource for other members of the accounting team by assisting with challenging reconciliations, troubleshooting accounting issues, and providing guidance regarding the application of GAAP.

Requirements for Both Staff and Senior Accountants
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing responsibilities, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Staff Accountant Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental accounting principles and their practical application.
  • Comfortable working with calculations, percentages, and financial reporting/accounting software.
Senior Accountant Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience required; public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work independently while managing complex accounting projects, reconciliations, and competing priorities.
  • CPA designation preferred.
