We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee our core accounting functions and ensure the absolute accuracy of our financial reporting. In this role, you will bridge the gap between transactional bookkeeping and high-level financial analysis. You will lead standard close processes, maintain the general ledger, and serve as a mentor to junior staff. The ideal candidate possesses top-tier analytical skills, a deep understanding of standard accounting principles, and the ability to turn complex data into strategic insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to guarantee timely reporting.
- Prepare, review, and post complex journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and resolving discrepancies.
- Produce and analyze accurate balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other key financial documents.
Compliance, Audits, & Controls
- Ensure all accounting procedures strictly comply with GAAP requirements and internal policies.
- Coordinate directly with external auditors and compile necessary work papers and documentation.
- Monitor and strengthen internal controls by documenting standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Support federal, state, and local tax compliance and reporting.
Analysis, Budgeting, & Team Support
- Assist with budgeting, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Analyze business operations, costs, and revenues to help management make data-driven decisions.
- Mentor, train, and guide junior accountants, clerks, and bookkeepers.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline workflows and leverage financial technology.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Certifications: CPA or CMA designation is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, complex formulas) and experience with ERP systems [e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP, Sage].
- Compliance Knowledge: Thorough understanding of US GAAP and local tax regulations.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, high ethical standards, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
