The Bachrach Group is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to provide mid- to high-level accounting support to the Controller and CFO. This role collaborates with accounting personnel and internal departments and may provide direction to junior staff.

Key duties include performing GAAP-based accounting, preparing journal entries, reconciling ledgers, coordinating month-end, quarter-end and year-end closures, and assisting with audits and policy development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 4 years of professional experience in accounting and finance.
  • Experience with GAAP is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional level accounting duties according to GAAP.
  • Provide accurate, timely recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information.
  • Prepare journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and assist with all accounting functions.
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card activity; monitor accounts.
  • Track and report expenses; analyze transactions for accuracy and business need.
  • Assist with the preparation and payment of providers and vendors.
  • Coordinate month-end, quarter-end and year-end closures.
  • Assist with creating and implementing accounting policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation for and coordination of internal audits and financial risk assessments.
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files.
  • Assist in directing junior staff as needed.
  • Other duties as requested

Job description

The Senior Staff Accountant provides mid- to high-level administrative and financial support services directed by the Controller and the CFO. The Sr. Staff Accountant works closely with other accounting personnel, internal departments, and may provide direction and guidance to junior staff.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform professional level accounting duties according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Provide accurate, timely, and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information
  • Prepare journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and assist with all accounting functions.
  • Reconciling monthly credit card & bank accounts Reconcile bank statements.
  • Track and report expenses, review and analyze transactions for accuracy and business need.
  • Assist in the preparation and payment of providers and vendors.
  • Coordinate month-end, quarter-end and year-end closures.
  • Assist with creating and implementing new accounting policies, standards, and guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation for and coordination of internal audits and financial risk assessments.
  • Maintain and update accounting records and files.
  • Assist in directing junior staff as needed.
  • Other duties as requested

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and or NetSuite
  • Strong analytical problem-solving aptitude with creative solutions, ability to organize work with large amounts of information efficiently, manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both in writing and verbally, with management
  • Open to development of skills and knowledge
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to change
  • Demonstrates flexibility in organizational needs to perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 4 years professional experience in accounting and finance
