Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking a hands-on Senior Staff Accountant to join the Irvine accounting team. The ideal candidate will own month-end close, review journal entries, perform reconciliations, and ensure US GAAP compliance while partnering with cross-functional teams.

This role requires 5+ years in progressive accounting, experience with large ERP systems, and strong Excel skills. Hybrid schedule in Irvine, CA area with some onsite collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including Senior Accountant roles.
• Experience in complex, multi-location and/or multi-entity organizations.
• Experience with companies having $500M+ annual revenue.
• Ability to work in challenging, ambiguous environments requiring process improvements.
• Strong GL, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting skills.
• Experience with large ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, MS Dynamics, NetSuite, Workday) and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute month-end and year-end close activities and ensure timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and schedules.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure US GAAP compliance.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts; investigate discrepancies.
• Lead or participate in accounting clean-up projects and process improvements.
• Support audit requests and coordinate with external auditors.
• Partner with business leaders to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.
• Assist with financial reporting, variance analysis, and management reporting packages.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls, streamline workflows, and improve data accuracy.
• Contribute to ERP optimizations, implementations, upgrades, or system initiatives.
