Job summary

Vaco by Highspring seeks an experienced accounting leader in Irvine to manage month-end close, mentor senior staff, and drive process improvements. You will collaborate with FP&A, operations, and IT to optimize data flow and reporting accuracy while ensuring GAAP compliance.

The role requires a strong background in GL, high-volume close, and ERP systems, with Power BI/SQL skills and CPA considered a strong plus. On-site in Southern California with potential discretionary bonuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership/supervisory roles.
• Strong general ledger and close experience in a large, high-volume organization.
• CPA or CPA track highly preferred; experience with Power BI, Alteryx, SQL a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
• Manage and mentor a team of senior and staff accountants, providing coaching, training, and performance guidance.
• Identify, lead, and execute process improvement initiatives to reduce close timelines and increase efficiency.
• Design and implement scalable processes, templates, and automation solutions across the accounting function.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to improve data flow, reporting accuracy, and overall financial processes.
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting deliverables.
• Analyze financial results, including variance analysis and flux explanations, and communicate insights to leadership.
• Drive adoption of new systems, tools, and reporting capabilities to enhance productivity and decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements.
