Job description

Job Title: Senior Staff Accountant

Located in our Roselle, IL office, our Senior Staff Accountant will analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within an organization. The role also serves as a lead point of contact in the accounting department.

Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  2. Manage 5 sets of books & 16 operating/petty cash accounts. Conduct bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
  3. Prepare month-end journal entries with supporting documentation.
  4. Perform various balance sheet reconciliations including cash, work in process, accrued liabilities, prepaids, among others.
  5. Assist with analyzing job costs and closing jobs at month-end.
  6. Analyze weekly cash and bank transactions for proper recording.
  7. Research accounting questions from business unit personnel and corporate.
  8. Review reconciling items or accounting issues, and recommend or resolve issues.
  9. Assist with process improvements and documentation of procedures.
  10. Complete variance analysis and provide insights on trends and movements.
  11. Assist in preparing internal monthly and year-end financial reports.
  12. Support annual audit procedures through data gathering, variance explanations, and documentation.
  13. Handle ad-hoc reporting or requests, including system implementation/enhancements, business analysis, tax reporting, acquisitions, and other projects.
Required Education/Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of senior accounting experience.
  • Highly skilled in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands:

This position is largely sedentary but requires some filing, lifting files, opening cabinets, and bending. The role operates in both office and field environments, requiring the ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
