The Position :

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Staff Accountant to work in the General Accounting group. This position will collaborate extensively with members of the Finance and Accounting groups to book adjustments related to general, rights, and production accounting. Reporting to the Accounting Director, we are looking for someone who can work independently, strive to resolve issues, and complete tasks without supervision. Additionally, the Senior Staff Accountant will maintain rights schedules and perform monthly variance analyses on the assigned networks. To succeed, you must handle a large volume of tasks, prioritize effectively, and work closely with business units to complete responsibilities.

The Game Plan: What you'll do

• Manage the close process for several sports networks
• Prepare monthly rights amortization and production flash accruals
• Prepare monthly close adjustments, including balance sheet reclassifications, accruals, revenue recognition, rights, and production
• Ensure timely preparation of adjusting entries
• Interact directly with the Finance group to obtain proposed journal entries, resolve discrepancies, and reclassifications
• Conduct monthly variance analysis for management review
• Perform variance analysis including rights, production, and season trend analysis
• Prepare monthly financial statement packages for applicable networks
• Reconcile accounts for assigned networks
• Participate in process improvements and internal controls testing to ensure compliance with company policies and SOX
• Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Ensure timely completion of quarterly reporting schedules
• Prepare monthly cash flow statements, meeting all deadlines
• Monitor standardization of accounting policies across networks to ensure consistency and streamline processes
• Handle ad hoc reporting, analysis, and other projects as needed

The Stats: What to bring

• Minimum of 2+ years of accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
• Ability to manage large volumes of entries under deadline constraints
• Detail-oriented with efficiency
• Self-starter, accountable, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• Strong multi-tasking skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently following schedules and be resourceful
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all management levels

The base salary range for this role is $80,000 to $95,000, with final compensation determined by experience, skills, certifications, and location.
