Job summary

CFS is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant in Hartford, CT to join a close-knit, high-performing accounting team. This position offers exposure to leadership and ownership and opportunities to make a meaningful impact within a growing organization.

The role reports directly to the Controller, operates in a laid-back office environment, and provides potential for growth as the company continues to perform exceptionally well. CPA progression is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Several years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and general accounting principles.
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus, not required.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activity
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare financial reports and support financial statements
• Analyze financial data and investigate variances
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other accounting projects
• Support process improvements and strengthen controls
• Collaborate with Controller and accounting team

• Prepare financial reports and support the preparation of financial statements
• Analyze financial data and investigate account variances
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other accounting projects as needed
• Support process improvements and help strengthen accounting procedures and controls
• Work closely with the Controller, Assistant Controller, and other members of the accounting team

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Several years of progressive accounting experience
