Job summary

Everpure, part of Pure Storage, seeks a seasoned Hardware Design Engineer for the Datastore team in Santa Clara. You will lead SSD hardware design from concept to production, contribute across architecture, design, validation, and sustaining, and drive interoperability tests with servers and storages.

You will diagnose HW issues, apply PCIe/DDR/NAND knowledge, and evaluate tradeoffs in mechanical, thermal, power, and signal integrity. Mentorship is expected.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hardware design and development including schematic, layout, and component selection.
• BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or similar field.
• Experience with SSD hardware designs.
• Validation at electrical, SI, protocol and functional levels.
• Experience with high speed oscilloscopes and differential probes.
• Strong scripting in Python, Bash, etc.

Responsibilities

• Plan, lead, implement, and debug SSD hardware designs from concept through production.
• Contribute to architecture, design, documentation, validation, and sustaining of the datastore hardware.
• Drive interoperability testing across server/storage systems and SSDs.
• Diagnose HW issues with internal teams, external partners, and JDMs.
• Apply knowledge of PCIe, DDR, NAND, SPI, and I2C in design decisions.
• Evaluate mechanical, thermal, power, and signal integrity tradeoffs.
• Review test plans with diagnostics/test engineers to ensure coverage.
• Lead failure analysis and root-cause investigations for field issues.
• Incorporate automation and AI to enhance SSD design and validation processes.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers.
