Job summary

KIOXIA America, Inc. is seeking an SSD Debug Engineer to triage and debug data center SSD failures. You will work with Product Support Engineering to resolve qualification issues and lead root-cause analysis in high-pressure environments.

Responsibilities include cross-functional debugging, telemetry analysis, and development of debug firmware in C to accelerate problem resolution. Domestic/international travel is required as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires BS/MS in computer engineering or equivalent with 8–10 years in a technical field.
• Proven NVMe and PCIe protocol debugging experience on SSDs.
• Experience with firmware architecture and validation/testing.
• Strong debugging tool knowledge: PCIe analyzers, oscilloscopes, Linux tools.

Responsibilities

• Triage and debug SSD data center failures across host, transport, firmware and media.
• Define reproducible test cases and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Collaborate with global engineering teams to resolve issues across time zones.
• Analyze logs and firmware traces; correlate with hardware behavior to root cause.
• Develop debug firmware in C for SSD firmware stack to accelerate analysis.
• Troubleshoot performance; optimize IOPS and throughput; reduce tail latencies.
• Create 8D reports and communicate findings to customers.
• Produce technical white papers on use-cases as needed.
