Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - SRE to own the reliability posture for an engineering domain. You will design alerting, own SLO health, lead incident command, and mentor engineers across distributed systems powering pharmacy and store operations.

You will collaborate with domain owners to bake reliability into design, automate toil, and push for improvements across edge deployments and hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, platform engineering, or related production‑systems roles
• 3+ years operating cloud‑native distributed systems at production scale with on‑call responsibility
• Demonstrated experience as an on‑call Incident Commander for P1 or P2 incidents
• Experience tuning and validating time‑series anomaly detection models in a production observability context
• Strong programming proficiency in Python, Go, or Java at production quality
• Hands‑on experience designing SLIs, SLOs, and managing error budgets
• Deep observability platform experience: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Loki/Elasticsearch
• Organizational influence without authority: proven SRE practice adoption in engineering teams
• Fleet‑scale deployment awareness and progressive rollout strategies (canary, blast radius)
• Experience with cloud platforms AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Advanced Kubernetes operational experience; tooling integration and automation

Responsibilities

• Own the SRE posture for an assigned domain, setting reliability strategy and ownership
• Design comprehensive alerting strategies including multi‑signal and anomaly‑based detection
• Tune ML‑based anomaly detection and balance false positives with alert fatigue metrics
• Build domain‑level dashboards for end‑to‑end business flow health
• Lead Production Readiness Reviews (PRR) and sign‑off on production readiness
• Lead incident bridges as IC for P0/P1 incidents and drive structured postmortems
• Mentor SE‑level engineers in SRE craft and incident response
• Partner with domain owners on reliability requirements during architecture and planning
• Drive continuous improvement through PRR updates, runbook enhancements, and toл automation
• Contribute to observability tooling library and standardize SRE practices
