Job summary

First Citizens is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the Enterprise Observability and SRE team in Raleigh. You will enhance reliability, performance, and operational excellence across critical platforms and applications, partnering with development, cloud, and security teams to embed observability and automation.

The role emphasizes driving SLOs, error budgets, and proactive incident management, with leadership responsibilities and a strong focus on automation, CI/CD, and IaC

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Databahn or similar technologies.
• Strong understanding of APM, distributed tracing, log analytics, and infrastructure monitoring.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain highly available, resilient, and scalable platforms.
• Manage SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets across critical services.
• Lead reliability reviews and drive proactive risk reduction.
• Develop monitoring, alerting, synthetic tests, and dashboards.
• Improve CI/CD processes and IaC automation.
• Participate in incident response and post-incident reviews.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship across teams.
