Job summary

State Employees' Credit Union in Raleigh, NC seeks a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to mentor junior SREs and drive reliability improvements across multiple applications. You will develop and enforce standards, monitor systems, and partner with development teams to optimize release processes.

This role emphasizes automation, capacity planning, disaster recovery, and adherence to ITSM practices while maintaining 24/7 services and guiding others through complex incidents and improvements.

Qualifications

• Strong experience managing Windows and Linux distributed environments.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Shell scripting.
• Knowledge of distributed storage like S3, NFS, HDFS and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Cloud experience (AWS, GCP) and infrastructure automation (Terraform, Ansible).
• Networking, security, and database management fundamentals.
• Experience in ITSM processes (Change, Incident) and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, monitor, troubleshoot and optimize systems for reliability in a 24/7 model.
• Collaborate with development teams to improve services through testing and release procedures.
• Participate in design consultations, platform management, and capacity planning.
• Balance feature speed with reliability via clear service-level objectives.
• Support Dev, SIT, UAT, Production, and DR for multiple applications.
• Automate infrastructure tasks to create sustainable systems and uplift operations.
