Job summary

The Walt Disney Company (Corporate) in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior Manager of Systems Reliability Engineering to lead a high-performing team responsible for reliability, scalability, and performance of complex applications, infrastructure, and platforms across the enterprise. The role applies software engineering and DevOps practices to design, automate, monitor, and operate resilient systems at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of experience leading multiple or cross functional engineering teams responsible for supporting and deploying internet based products or services
• 5+ years of hands on experience developing or supporting enterprise online products and services
• Knowledge of core internet protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP)
• Proven experience managing software development lifecycle platforms and tools
• Excellent written and verbal communications for Senior/Executive Management
• Strong interpersonal communication in highly matrixed organizations
• Scripting/programming languages such as Python, Go, C++, Ruby, or JAVA
• Budget management experience
• Experience with web app development platforms and tools
• Understanding of CD/CI frameworks (Chef, Puppet, CFEngine) and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI; git, artifactory, nexus, maven)
• Experience with multiple hosting environments including public and private cloud
• Scripting infrastructure with Terraform or CloudFormation

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate the SRE vision and strategy, aligning engineering priorities with business objectives
• Lead architecture, adoption, lifecycle, and optimization of platforms and technologies with automation, testing, observability, availability, and resiliency
• Oversee capacity, system performance, incident, change, and problem management for reliable production environments
• Collaborate with technology, business, and executive leaders to solve complex problems and deliver technical solutions
• Manage staffing, project prioritization, capacity planning, infrastructure investments, budgets, and resource allocation
• Recruit, coach, mentor, and develop managers and engineers while fostering a high-performing engineering culture
