Job summary

Apple is seeking an SRE Manager in Seattle to lead a team of SREs, define technical direction, and own people leadership. You will partner with product engineering to ensure observable, resilient services and scale readiness, while mentoring engineers and growing talent.

You will plan roadmaps, track health via SLOs and incidents, and collaborate with upstream teams to drive reliable production systems. This role blends hands-on leadership with strategic planning.

Qualifications

• Experience operating and improving distributed, customer-facing production services at scale.
• 2+ years managing or leading engineering or SRE teams, including hiring and performance management.
• Hands-on technical lead for a production service or team.
• Experience with release and deployment processes, including safe rollout and config management at scale.
• Experience with capacity planning, scale testing, and disaster recovery.
• Fluency in Java, Python, or Go for design discussions and code reviews.
• Experience building resourcing and hiring plans with leadership and partner teams.
• Track record of growing engineers into senior and staff-level roles.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Own technical direction and decision-making for products/domains in alignment with partner teams.
• Own roadmap planning, sprint planning, and project prioritization with leadership.
• Monitor health via SLOs, incidents, release quality, and project planning (6–24 months).
• Maintain awareness of production changes and provide reliability feedback.
• Lead incident and production-issue management, drive improvements.
• Build partnerships between Engineering and SRE teams.
• Provide regular performance feedback and career growth guidance.
• Own resourcing and hiring plans to staff a scalable team.
• Communicate team health and project updates to leadership and partners.
