Job summary

Synapse Health is seeking a Sr. Site Reliability Engineer to lead the migration from legacy Azure services to a Kubernetes-driven microservices architecture.

You will own reliability, performance, and scalability, partnering with engineering and data teams to embed resilience from day one. The role requires 5+ years in SRE/DevOps, strong Kubernetes and IaC experience, and hands-on cloud skills across Azure/AWS/GCP.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Hands-on experience in cloud environments (Azure preferred, AWS or GCP acceptable).
• Strong experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
• Experience deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes using Helm.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform.
• Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash) to automate infrastructure tasks.
• Experience with observability, monitoring and incident response in production environments.
• Experience building or supporting CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions and/or GitLab CI/CD).
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, system design, and cloud components.
• Familiarity with Azure Entra ID and related identity/workload configurations.
• Proven ability to translate loosely defined problems into scalable solutions.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Comfort with fast-paced environments and evolving priorities.
• Understanding PHI handling, access control, and audit requirements in healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Lead platform and infrastructure evolution from legacy to containerized microservices.
• Design and scale Kubernetes-based infrastructure and tooling.
• Ensure reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency from day one.
• Drive standardization across infrastructure and ownership.
• Collaborate with engineering to optimize cloud spend and networking.
• Define SLIs/SLOs/SLAs and lead incident response and root-cause analysis.
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines for safe, repeatable deployments.
• Champion IaC practices using Terraform and automation scripting.
• Guide capacity planning and performance tuning for growth.
• Document systems and share knowledge to reduce single points of failure.
