Job summary

TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to own the reliability of our production ecosystem. You will design and operate scalable, fault-tolerant systems, partner with development teams to ensure high availability, and drive automation and observability across our global platform.

The role emphasizes disaster recovery, incident response, post-mortems, and capacity planning in a large-scale environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Go, Python, Java, or C++).
• Strong understanding of Linux system internals, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing), and distributed systems.
• Experience managing containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker).

Responsibilities

• System Design & Optimization: design and optimize high-concurrency distributed systems for scalability and reliability.
• Automation & Efficiency: build and maintain automation tools to reduce toil and manage infrastructure as code.
• Observability & Monitoring: develop monitoring, alerting, and logging systems with SLIs/SLOs for deep visibility.
• Disaster Recovery (DR) & Resilience: lead global disaster recovery drills and validate failover mechanisms.
• Incident Management & Response: lead war rooms and drive technical troubleshooting to restore services.
• Capacity Planning: manage resources and performance bottlenecks for organic growth and traffic surges.
