Job summary

M&T Bank Corporation is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Site Reliability Engineering, to enhance reliability and performance of online and mobile banking platforms. You will implement IaC with Terraform, manage CI/CD pipelines, and support Azure environments while driving operational excellence.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design resilient systems, improve observability, and deliver scalable, customer-facing digital banking services in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and minimum 3 years systems analysis or development, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise applications in production environments.
• Experience with Azure cloud services and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation (GitLab/Artifactory).
• Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and operational excellence practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with release management, deployment governance, and operational readiness concepts.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and support highly available, resilient applications within the Digital Banking ecosystem.
• Work within the SDLC to design and develop applications that meet business needs while reducing operational risk.
• Write clean, secure, maintainable code for customer-facing digital banking platforms.
• Contribute to reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of mobile and online banking apps.
• Implement and support SRE practices including monitoring, observability, alerting, and incident response.
• Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines and IaC automation for infrastructure provisioning.
• Support production readiness reviews, releases, and post-implementation validation.
• Collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, architecture, and business teams.
