Job summary

The Charles Schwab Corporation is seeking a Software Development & Engineering Senior Associate in San Francisco to operate and enhance production platforms using modern Site Reliability Engineering and DevOps practices. You will monitor health, respond to incidents, and implement automation to improve reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

Degree or certification in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
4+ years of experience in software engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, application support, or related technical roles.
2+ years of experience supporting production applications and services.
Experience with application monitoring, alerting, and operational support processes.
Experience supporting software deployments and release activities.
Experience developing automation scripts or operational tooling.
Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and deployment automation.
Experience diagnosing and resolving application or infrastructure issues.
Familiarity with cloud technologies, distributed systems, or modern application architectures.
Understanding of reliability engineering, incident management, and production support fundamentals.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Monitor production systems and respond to operational alerts and support requests.
Investigate and resolve application reliability, performance, and availability issues.
Support deployment and release activities for web, mobile, and API services.
Implement and maintain monitoring, dashboard, and alerting solutions.
Develop automation scripts and tooling to improve operational efficiency.
Participate in incident response and service restoration activities.
Assist with root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
Support CI/CD pipeline maintenance and deployment automation efforts.
Create and maintain operational runbooks and support documentation.
Collect and analyze operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
Ensure production systems meet operational support and monitoring requirements.
Participate in on-call support rotations as required.
Support performance, capacity, and resiliency testing initiatives.
Collaborate with software engineers to address production-related concerns.
Follow established SRE, DevOps, security, and operational standards.
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts focused on reliability and operational maturity
