Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to protect the stability and performance of the Order Management System. You will resolve critical production incidents, drive rapid restoration, and collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, and database teams.

You will mentor peers, shape operational best practices, and advance automation, observability, and reliability. This role requires night shifts and weekend availability, in Austin, TX, with a hybrid/onsite emphasis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in Production Support, SRE, or related role.
• Troubleshoot Java-based distributed applications and SQL-backed systems.
• Experience with monitoring/observability tools (AppDynamics, Splunk, Grafana, InfluxDB, Control-M).
• Strong Oracle Database knowledge and SQL optimization.
• Strong Linux administration in RHEL 7/8/9.
• Automation scripting with Python or Shell.
• Experience leading incident responses and on-call.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders.
• Willingness to work night shifts and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Protect stability, performance, and resiliency of Schwab’s Order Management System.
• Resolve complex production incidents and restore critical systems quickly.
• Collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, databases, and vendor teams.
• Improve production readiness and drive operational excellence and automation.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to best practices and on-call processes.
