Job summary

Palo Alto Networks, Inc. is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Cortex) in Santa Clara to maintain and enhance our cloud platform and SaaS product.

You will drive reliability, optimize infrastructure, and build deployment automation with Terraform and Helm while collaborating with Engineering to improve operability. You should bring 5–7+ years in DevOps/SRE, strong Linux expertise, and hands-on experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, cloud services, and container orchestration.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of experience as a DevOps/SRE engineer.
• Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (Redis, Cassandra, Hadoop).
• Strong Linux internals knowledge enabling rapid troubleshooting.
• Clear understanding of incident and alerts management in SRE.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex problems effectively.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (GCP/AWS or similar).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration.
• Proficiency in Python and Linux shell commands.
• Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Familiarity with security concepts and best practices.
• Experience with observability and incident response tools.
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration.
• Kafka experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Optimize infrastructure by leveraging experience with cloud platforms.
• Participate in incident management to ensure prompt resolution of issues.
• Develop and maintain deployment configurations using Terraform and Helm.
• Evaluate new technologies and implement them to improve operations.
• Participate in on-call rotation to provide follow-the-sun coverage.
• Collaborate with Engineering to influence product operability and reliability.
