Job summary

Kemper is seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA to architect, administer, and optimize enterprise SQL Server environments across on‑premises, hybrid, and AWS cloud platforms. You will lead performance tuning, security, and DR initiatives while mentoring junior staff and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

The role requires strong expertise in SQL Server architecture, Always On, clustering, and automation using PowerShell and IaC tools.

Qualifications

• Ten years of hands-on experience administering enterprise database environments, focused on Microsoft SQL Server.
• Extensive experience with AWS and hybrid cloud platforms supporting SQL Server environments.
• Experience designing high availability, disaster recovery, backup and restore solutions for enterprise databases.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical authority for Microsoft SQL Server platforms across dev/test/prod environments.
• Design, install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain enterprise SQL Server environments.
• Provide advanced administration for SQL Server technologies including AGs, Failover Clustering, replication, and SSIS/SSRS.
• Develop architecture standards and operational procedures for reliability and scalability.
• Perform advanced performance tuning, query optimization, and workload analysis.
• Monitor environments and proactively address performance, capacity, and security issues.
• Design and maintain high availability and disaster recovery strategies and test failover.
• Implement security controls, encryption, auditing, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with cloud, security, and application teams to optimize database solutions in AWS and hybrid setups.
• Lead migrations and modernization efforts toward cloud-based database solutions.
