Job summary

SMBC is seeking a Senior SQL Server Database Administrator in Charlotte, NC, to join a high‑performing team supporting mission‑critical environments. The role emphasizes deep SQL Server expertise across on‑prem, Azure, and AWS with a focus on HA/DR, security, and automation.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of hands‑on experience, strong scripting with PowerShell, and experience building Power BI dashboards for operational reporting. This is a hybrid role with potential onsite requirements.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Ansible automation for infrastructure provisioning and operations.
• Experience using ServiceNow for incident, problem, change, and workflow automation.
• Develop and implement database security controls including authentication, authorization, and auditing.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to support migrations, patches, upgrades, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert administration for SQL Server 2019/2022/2025 on on-prem VMs, Azure, and AWS.
• Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot SQL Server on Windows VMs.
• Manage Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and AWS SQL Server to ensure HA and security.
• Administer SSRS/SSIS/SSAS and design HA/DR with Always On and replication.
• Lead backups, recovery testing, and DR planning for mission-critical environments.
• Develop PowerShell automation for admin tasks, monitoring, and reporting.
• Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for DB health and capacity planning.
