Contact Government Services, a CGS Federal company, is seeking a Senior Database Administrator II in Chicago to manage SQL Server environments, perform migrations, and support virtualization and cloud platforms. The role emphasizes performance tuning, backups, and collaboration across IT teams.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of SQL Server DBA experience, strong skills in replication, backups, and MS technologies, and a proven ability to document and communicate decisions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience related directly to SQL Server Database Administration.
• Experience with visualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Experience with AWS RDS for PostgreSQL and cloud environments (Azure/AWS).
• Ability to document, explain, and present tasks and decisions.

Responsibilities

• Administering Microsoft SQL Server including Replication, Backup/Restore procedures, Capacity Planning, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and Integration Services.
• Migrating databases from SQL Server 2012 to SQL Server 2016.
• Providing all aspects of basic systems administration support including planning, testing, installations, and configurations of new hardware and software.
• Recommending/implementing solutions for SQL performance monitoring and tuning.
• Implement, deploy, and/or support Microsoft Technologies such as Visual Studio Framework, VB.NET, ASP.NET and Web Services.
• Support virtualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V, creating and configuring virtual machines.
• Performing backups of the web, application, and database servers according to policies.
• Performing database activities such as monitoring, space management, and support.
