Job summary

Contact Government Services (CGS) is seeking a Senior Database Administrator II to manage Microsoft SQL Server environments, including replication, backups, and performance tuning. The role includes migrations from SQL Server 2012 to 2016, and hands-on systems administration of hardware and software in a federal services context.

The ideal candidate has strong SQL Server expertise, virtualization experience with VMware/Hyper-V, and familiarity with SDLC, change control, and documentation

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience directly in SQL Server Database Administration.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
• Experience with VMware and Hyper-V virtualization.
• Experience with source/change control, bug tracking, SDLC, and relational database integration.
• Prior professional services or federal consulting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer SQL Server including replication, backups, capacity planning, SSRS/SSAS/SSIS.
• Migrate databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016.
• Provide systems administration: planning, testing, installations, and configurations of hardware/software.
• Recommending/implementing SQL performance monitoring and tuning.
• Implement, deploy, and support Microsoft technologies (Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Web Services).
• Support virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V, create and configure VMs.
• Perform backups of web, application, and database servers per policy; daily incremental and weekly full backups.
• Monitor databases, manage space, and provide extended hours support as needed.
