Job summary

CGS (Contact Government Services) is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server, including replication, backups, and performance tuning. The role supports SQL Server migrations from 2012 to 2016 and requires experience with virtualization technologies and Microsoft development tools.

The position is full-time in the Information Technology department, based in Washington, DC, with a focus on government contracting environments and strong collaboration

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of direct SQL Server database administration experience.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently.
• Experience with VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization.
• Experience with source/change control, bug tracking, SDLC, and relational databases integration.
• Ability to document, explain, and present tasks and processes.

Responsibilities

• Administer MS SQL Server including replication, backups, capacity planning, SSRS/SSAS/SSIS.
• Migrate databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016.
• Provide systems administration support for hardware/software deployments and configurations.
• Recommend/implement SQL performance monitoring and tuning solutions.
• Deploy and support Microsoft technologies such as Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET and Web Services.
• Support virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper‑V, configuring virtual machines.
• Perform backups per MPA policies, including daily incremental and weekly full backups.
• Monitor databases and space, provide extended hours of support as needed.
