The University of Michigan seeks a Senior/Intermediate Database Administrator to develop, enhance and maintain enterprise database practices across clinical, research and education applications. You will deliver reliable database solutions and report to the Manager of Database Services.

Responsibilities include planning releases, backups, performance tuning, security compliance, and providing support to developers and vendors. Hybrid or remote work may be available at department discretion.

Formación

• Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3-5 years related database design and implementation experience.
• Five or more years of working experience as SQL Server database administrator.
• Strong understanding of SQL Server principles and best practices.
• Experience with supported SQL Server Enterprise Edition releases.
• Experience with SQL Server backup and recovery procedures.
• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
• Effective organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• 2-3 years related database design and implementation experience.

Responsabilidades

• Plan, install and maintain compliant software releases.
• Research, plan and implement methods to ensure the integrity and recovery of databases.
• Ensure database services meet application performance and availability expectations.
• Ensure database services meet institutional security policies.
• Analyze resource utilization for database optimization and capacity planning efforts.
• Monitor and tune production database resources as necessary.
• Develop and use automation tools and techniques to increase efficiency and productivity.
• Participate in 7x24 on call support rotation for business-critical databases.
• Provide technical support to developers, application support teams and vendors as necessary.
• Develop, review and maintain database procedures and internal system documentation.
• Provide incident and problem assistance for database customers.
• Provide and receive cross-training with support processes and procedures.
• Develop educational goals for continuous improvement of skills.
