Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor database health, performance, storage, jobs, alerts, backups, restores, and maintenance processes.
  • Support SQL Server Availability Groups, listeners, backup and restore processes, and database cloning.
  • Troubleshoot production database issues, identify root causes, and drive incidents through resolution.
  • Support performance testing, capacity planning, and database scalability as data volume and usage grow.
  • Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to review and implement database changes, tune SQL performance—including queries, stored procedures, indexes, and transaction-heavy workflows—and improve overall database reliability.
  • Improve database operations through monitoring, automation, documentation, and repeatable procedures.
Required Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience as a DBA supporting large Microsoft SQL Server production databases.
  • Strong experience with SQL Server performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing, execution plans, stored procedures, and complex SQL scripts.
  • Experience managing SQL Server jobs, alerts, backups, restores, maintenance plans, Availability Groups, and listeners.
  • Experience with system-versioned temporal tables, history tables, archiving, and large historical data sets.
  • Ability to troubleshoot database performance issues across applications, reporting, imports, exports, and high-volume transaction systems.
  • Experience with database monitoring, health checks, performance analysis, and proactive alerting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with development, infrastructure, support, and other technical and nontechnical teams.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience supporting SaaS platforms or customer-facing business applications.
  • Experience with multi-customer or multi-tenant database environments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as New Relic, ELK, or similar platforms.
