Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to administer all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server from a Rockville, MD base. The role emphasizes production support, performance tuning, and SQL Server 2012/2016 migrations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience related directly to SQL Server Database Administration.
• Experience with VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization.
• Experience with source/change control, bug tracking, SDLC, and relational databases.
• Ability to handle confidential/sensitive materials and work in teams or alone.
• Experience implementing data warehouses and cloud environments (AWS/Azure).
• Prior federal consulting or professional services experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administering SQL Server including Replication, Backup/Restore, capacity planning, SSRS/SSAS/SSIS.
• Migrating databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016.
• Provide systems administration support for hardware and software changes.
• Recommend and implement SQL performance monitoring and tuning solutions.
• Support Microsoft technologies (Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET, Web Services).
• Support virtualization tech (VMware, Hyper-V) and create virtual machines.
• Backups for web, application, and database servers per policy; extended hours when required.
• Monitor databases, space management, and provide ongoing support.
