Job summary

CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to oversee all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server administration, including replication, backups, and performance tuning. The role requires experience migrating databases between SQL Server versions and supporting related Microsoft technologies.

The ideal candidate will have deep experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (AWS/Azure), with a proven ability to work independently

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years relevant experience related directly to SQL Server Database Administration
• Experience with replication, backup/restore, and capacity planning in SQL Server environments
• Experience with SQL Server performance monitoring and tuning
• Experience with visualization technologies such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V
• Experience with source control, bug tracking, SDLC, and relational database integration
• Ability to handle confidential materials and work both independently and in groups
• Ability to document, explain, and present tasks and decisions

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft SQL Server including Replication, Backup/Restore, Capacity Planning, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and Integration Services
• Migrate databases from SQL Server 2012 to 2016
• Provide systems administration support for new hardware and software
• Recommend and implement SQL performance monitoring and tuning solutions
• Implement, deploy, and support Microsoft technologies such as Visual Studio, VB.NET, ASP.NET and Web Services
• Support virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V and manage virtual machines
• Back up web, application, and database servers per policy, including daily incremental and weekly full backups
• Monitor databases, manage space, and provide extended support as needed
